Living in Cabo del Sol: Golf, Beach, Dining and the Baja Lifestyle
There are places in Los Cabos that you visit.
And then there are places that make you imagine what your everyday life could look like if you actually lived here.
Cabo del Sol is one of those places.
For years, the community has been known for its golf, ocean views and beautiful homes. But there is something different happening here now.
Cabo del Sol is becoming much more than a place you pass through on the way between Cabo San Lucas and San José del Cabo.
It is becoming a lifestyle.
And that’s what interests me most.
Living in Cabo del Sol is More Than Golf
When people hear “Cabo del Sol,” golf is usually the first thing that comes to mind.
And understandably so.
The community has a long history with the sport, surrounded by dramatic desert landscapes and the Sea of Cortez. There is something particularly beautiful about playing golf in Baja when the mountains are rising behind you and the ocean appears in the distance.
But I’ve always thought there was more to Cabo del Sol than the golf courses.
Because the real attraction isn’t necessarily what you do there.
It’s how you feel while you’re there.
The pace is different.
The landscape is always present.
And there is that unmistakable combination of desert, ocean and sunshine that makes Los Cabos feel unlike anywhere else.
When the Ocean Becomes Part of Everyday Life
One of the things I love most about living in Baja is that the ocean isn’t just something you see while you’re on vacation.
It becomes part of your everyday life.
You notice the light in the morning.
You notice the color of the water.
You notice the wind.
You start planning your day around the weather instead of fighting against it.
And in Cabo del Sol, the Sea of Cortez is always part of the experience.
Depending on where you are in the community, you can spend the morning near the water, go for a walk, play golf, enjoy lunch outdoors or simply sit somewhere with a view and let the afternoon disappear.
There is something very Baja about that.
You don’t always need a plan.
The Luxury of Having Time
I think this is something people sometimes misunderstand about luxury living in Los Cabos.
Luxury isn’t necessarily about having more.
Sometimes it’s about having time.
Time for breakfast.
Time for a workout.
Time to go to the beach.
Time to have a long lunch with friends.
Time to watch the sunset instead of rushing through it.
That’s one of the things I find attractive about Cabo del Sol.
The lifestyle can be as active or as relaxed as you want it to be.
You can spend the morning playing golf and the afternoon doing absolutely nothing.
And nobody is going to tell you that you’re doing it wrong.
A New Chapter Is Taking Shape
Cabo del Sol has been established for years, but I think the community is entering an interesting new chapter.
There is a growing mix of hospitality, dining, wellness, entertainment and residential living that is changing the way people experience the area.
Park Hyatt Cabo del Sol opened in 2025, adding another level of luxury hospitality, dining and wellness to the community.
And then there is Ánima Village.
I find the concept particularly interesting because it isn’t simply about adding another collection of stores or restaurants.
It’s about creating a place where people actually want to spend time.
Coffee.
Food.
Art.
Shopping.
Wellness.
Conversation.
That kind of environment changes a community.
It gives people another reason to stay rather than constantly getting in the car and driving somewhere else.
And that is important when you’re thinking about what it actually means to live somewhere.
Imagine a Day Living in Cabo del Sol
This is the part I enjoy imagining.
Forget the property for a moment.
Forget the square footage.
Forget the number of bedrooms.
Just imagine the day.
You wake up early.
The sun is already coming over the mountains.
You make coffee and step outside.
The air is warm, the sky is clear and somewhere in the distance you can see the Sea of Cortez.
Maybe you go for a walk.
Maybe you work out.
Maybe you play golf.
Or maybe you simply sit there for another twenty minutes because you don’t have anywhere you need to be.
Later, you meet friends for lunch.
The afternoon could be spent at the beach, around the pool, exploring somewhere new or simply enjoying your home.
As the sun starts going down, everything changes.
The desert gets quieter.
The mountains turn darker.
The ocean catches the last light of the day.
And suddenly you’re reminded why people fall in love with Baja.
Not because every day is extraordinary.
But because ordinary days can feel pretty extraordinary here.
Between Two Very Different Los Cabos
Location is another part of the appeal.
Cabo del Sol sits along the Tourist Corridor between Cabo San Lucas and San José del Cabo.
And that gives you access to two very different sides of Los Cabos.
Cabo San Lucas is energetic.
The marina, restaurants, nightlife, entertainment and constant movement give it a completely different personality.
San José del Cabo feels more relaxed.
It has its historic center, galleries, restaurants, cafés and a stronger connection to the local character of Baja.
I live in San José del Cabo, so I naturally have a soft spot for it.
But I also appreciate being able to drive toward Cabo San Lucas when I want something completely different.
That’s one of the advantages of living somewhere like Cabo del Sol.
You don’t have to choose one personality of Los Cabos.
You can enjoy both.
Who Is Cabo del Sol For?
Cabo del Sol isn’t necessarily for everyone.
And that’s okay.
I think it makes the most sense for someone who appreciates a combination of:
- Ocean and desert
- Outdoor living
- Golf
- Beach time
- Wellness
- Good restaurants
- Resort-quality amenities
- Privacy
- Convenience
- Easy access to both Cabo San Lucas and San José del Cabo
But more than anything, I think it is for someone who wants their time in Los Cabos to feel like a lifestyle rather than a vacation.
That’s an important distinction.
A vacation eventually ends.
A lifestyle is what happens on a Tuesday morning.
What Does Living Here Actually Feel Like?
This is a question I wish more people asked when they start considering Los Cabos.
Instead of asking:
“Which property should I buy?”
I think the better question is:
“What kind of life do I want to live here?”
Do you want to wake up near the ocean?
Do you want golf to be part of your weekly routine?
Do you want restaurants and entertainment close by?
Do you want privacy?
Do you want to spend several months here every year?
Do you want a place where your children and grandchildren can come and enjoy Baja with you?
Once you answer those questions, the real estate conversation becomes much easier.
Because you’re no longer searching for a house.
You’re searching for the right setting for your life.
My Perspective as a Local Real Estate Advisor
After spending years working in real estate and living in Los Cabos, I’ve learned that beautiful properties are relatively easy to find.
Finding the right place is harder.
And that’s why I believe you should experience a community before deciding whether you want to own there.
Walk around.
Have lunch.
Spend some time at the beach.
Drive through the neighborhoods.
See what the traffic feels like.
Imagine your normal routine.
Ask yourself whether you can see yourself here when you’re not on vacation.
That’s when you start getting the answer.
Because ultimately, buying a home in Los Cabos isn’t just about owning a beautiful piece of real estate.
It’s about choosing where you want to spend your time.
And time is probably the most valuable thing any of us have.
Living in Cabo del Sol: A Different Way to Experience Los Cabos
There are plenty of beautiful communities in Los Cabos.
What makes Cabo del Sol interesting to me is the combination.
Golf.
Ocean.
Desert.
Dining.
Wellness.
Resort experiences.
And increasingly, places where people can simply gather and enjoy themselves.
But underneath all of that, the appeal is surprisingly simple.
It’s the possibility of waking up somewhere beautiful and not feeling like you need to escape from it.
It’s having a slow morning.
It’s an afternoon at the beach.
It’s dinner with friends.
It’s watching another spectacular Baja sunset.
And then waking up the next morning and doing it all over again.
That’s the Baja lifestyle.
And maybe that’s what makes Cabo del Sol worth discovering.
